WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy)

WEP is an encryption protocol to protect the data transmission between the router wifi and a device but no protects communications through internet such as TLS. WEP is the substitute of wired connection and is the most used in a small business and particular houses, but one of the big disadvantages it’s very easy to hacked and access to the LAN.

WEP was enhanced to a WPA which is more strong protocol. About its technical specifications the protocol WEP works in the band 2.4Ghz and reaches speeds of data transmission between 11Mbps and 54Mbps in the protocol 802.11 a/b/g in nowadays the new protocol 802.11 n/ac can reaches speeds of 1.3Gbps according to the conditions.
