What is a router?
The router is a device that works on the layer of level 3. Thus, it allows several networks or computers to connect to each other and, for example, share an Internet connection. A router uses a routing protocol, which allows it to communicate with other routers and share information with each other to find out which is the fastest and most suitable route to send data. A typical router operates on a control plane (in this plane the device obtains information about the most effective output for a specific data packet) and on a forwarding plane (in this plane the device is responsible for sending the received data packet to another interface).
