Steps to take when a viruses attack is suspected

Most viruses attack can be removed without permanent damage to your computer system. Also, most can stop even after they start their attack.

Computer viruses are a real threat to the data of our companies. Internet, and its massive use, allows the spread of viruses to be increasingly broad and fast.

If our «door» of the Internet is open and, therefore, our corporate networks are also open, we must monitor the computer security of our company.

Viruses are malicious programs that attack computer hardware or software, causing malfunctioning or even total data loss. Viruses can spread through portable media, such as flash drives, floppy disks and CDs, or access the computer system through insecure networks or online downloads.

If you suspect that you are a victim of a virus attack, the following steps are recommended:

1. Disconnect the internet device to avoid data leakage.
2. It uses antivirus software to clean the computer and remove the virus from the operating system, if it is not achieved because the virus has damaged the antivirus files turn off the computer.
3. .Install an operating system on a USB, enter the operating system of Live USB and install antivirus software. Boot it with the Live USB from the infected computer and run the antivirus to remove all the harmful files.
4. Uninstall unknown programs.
5. Start the computer without internet connection, run software that corrects the changes in the keys of the windows registry, some antivirus already incorporate this tool, if not, you can use CClener.
6. Look for processes with strange names and descriptions in the task manager, if you find a selection and press with the left mouse button and enter the process location, stop the process and then delete it manually.
7. Scan your computer with other antivirus.
8. If the virus was exterminated it can rerun the computer normally. if not, I recommend to restore the operating system to a previous point or make a backup of the data and format it.
