Differences between virus and worm

There is much confusion in the network that is exactly a virus and worm that is why I decided to write this post.

Some viruses can be very harmful and others are softer. An important characteristic of viruses is that they can only be activated through human action. That is, viruses usually come in executable files, and if they are not opened or executed by a person they can be left on the computer without causing any harm.

On the other hand, there are worms, which are very similar to viruses but the big difference is that they spread themselves, without the need to be executed by a human being.

This makes worms very dangerous because they have the ability to replicate in your system, causing your computer to send millions of copies of itself making its propagation imminent. The damage that a worm can cause is that it consumes a lot of system memory, causing servers and computers to not respond.
