Spyware is a type of malicious software that is responsible for monitoring the actions of a user. This application is installed on a computer without the user’s consent and is responsible for gathering information about the equipment and tracking internet activity, and then transmit it to third parties in order to offer, for example, commercial content related to what has searched the user, or even allow remote control of a machine in order to steal personal data.

Spyware can know the URL’s visited, the search terms entered in the engines, the purchases made by e-commerce, the bank account and the personal or payment information. In addition to these damages to the user, spyware also damages the computer causing a loss of performance, making it difficult to connect to the Internet when consuming bandwidth, slowing down the functioning of the operating system and the execution of applications or consuming many resources of the machine.

The Spyware software also has the skills of:

  • It monitors the computer in such a way that it is able to record the user’s pulsations on the keyboard.
  • Acts showing ads, usually in the form of pop-ups.
  • Hijack the browser’s home page to fill it with ads.
  • Read cookies.
